Wellness begins with Mindset

Wellness begins with Mindset

Mindset is EVERYTHING.

Your mind can either help make you sick or make you well. I truly believe how you think has more of an affect on our health and our food choices. In fact... Wellness begins with your mindset. 🧘‍♀️️

Your mindset is the ideas, values and attitudes you hold that impact how you approach life. In order to truly be healthy, you must begin with a healthy mindset.

This doesn’t mean just being “positive all the time”. It means you you actively to assess and improve mental patterns that might be holding you back. This shift in thought processes is one of the biggest first steps to total and complete wellness. Remember, wellness is more than being physically fit. It’s being well inside and out.

Here’s how to improve mindset.

  1. You have the power within yourself.. Our society tends to rely on pills to make problems better when they occur rather than look for and address the underlying cause. Most people also take a passive role in their wellness only thinking about their health when something goes wrong. Many folks feel helpless, like their fate is beyond their control. You must be your own health advocate and belief in yourself and your ability to heal and change.

  2. Be Kinder to Yourself. Shift your inner dialogue from criticism to support. True wellness requires you to love yourself unconditionally. When you love yourself, you will do what it takes to nurture yourself and stay healthy and well.

  3. Surround Yourself with Like Minds. Phrases like, “Come on, just TRY the cake” don’t support your goals. Take note of the people in your life who enthusiastically support you, and those who are suspicious or doubtful of your lifestyle changes.

  4. Immerse Yourself in Gratitude. Having grateful sets the stage for a positive mental attitude that fuels success in all areas of your life. Regularly jot down a list of the things you’re grateful for. People who focus on and show gratitude for the things that really matter to them are the healthiest and happiest people. According to research in the field of Positive Psychology only 10% of happiness is influenced by our circumstances and 50% by our genes. A generous 40% of our happiness relies on intentional activities related to mindfulness and gratitude.

  5. Self care. Engage in self care practices that make your body feel good. These practices will improve your mind. (Ie: massage, nail appts, healthy eating, daily walks)

When you actively begin to assess and improve mental patterns that might be holding you back, you’ll find that all aspects of wellness start to get better and more aligned. It all starts from within!
